SACTO 2000 Wrap-Up

SACTO 2000

This years SACTO Open had entries for 216 rides per day.
The tournament was on Bell Acqua Lakes 1 and 2.Skiers and officials alike get a huge pat on the back. The officials sweated bullets and ran a very
fun tournament.The skiers were
exceptionally positive and helpful in expediting the flow and having a fun,
competitive time.

SACTO especially wants to thank Borg Warner for donating the
$3000 AccuSki system we raffled to help fund our junior development camps and
officials development clinics.

Ski World USA picked up the tab for all the great looking
shirts with help from Wet Tech and Eagle Pools.

This class C tournament broke out of the mold. The idea for the two lake tournament came
from Mike Nantze of Sacramento Water Ski Club and Bell Acqua Lake 1.In the past, too many people were left out
of this popular event.The tournament
filled immediately, so we could have used even more room. Mike co-chaired the tournament with Dan
Wathor of Bell Acqua Home Owners Association.

We had media coverage from the Sacramento Bee.The Bee photographer was on the island of
the jump lake when Rusty Rothenburg boomed a big jump. The photographer,
viewing through a huge telephoto lens, thought he was going to be landed on and
ran away! But he did get a great
picture of Jeff Howery landing which made Sundays paper.

Real, live, ice chest carrying, non-relative spectators even
showed up.Some of them had never seen
a water ski tournament before.We
forced several of them to have fun.

In addition to the great job by SACTO members, we had help
from the Bay area and Nevada.Iris
Hardeman, Lisa Wilson, Martha Selsor, Renee Riggs, Ken and Toni Cannon all
came from out of the area and worked sun up to barbecue time both days.

Thanks to everybody.
